Build a website with AI

Build a website with AI and keep the final say

Describe your business and the AI drafts the structure, pages and copy. Every element lands as a separate block you can move and rewrite. Nothing goes live until you approve it.

Who it's for

Who this page is for

You want a site online without starting from a blank page, but you won't settle for a locked result you can't touch afterwards. Here's what the AI does, and what it leaves to you.

  • Freelancers in a hurry

You know your trade and have little time. Describe it in a few sentences, the AI drafts a first site, and you fix whatever doesn't sound like you.

  • Artisans and shopkeepers

You can explain your craft; writing a home page is another matter. The AI turns your words into a first draft you rework block by block.

  • Consultants and coaches

Your offer changes, your copy with it. Depending on your plan, the AI editor shortens a paragraph or rewords a service on request; you keep or undo the result.

  • Small businesses, non-profits and agencies

You want a site in French and English without rewriting every page in the other language. AI translation drafts that version; you proofread and adjust it.

What you get

What the AI does for you

A solid starting point, never something forced on you. The AI produces real blocks, the editor lets you change everything, and you work in the same editor as a site built by hand.

  • A complete site, not a picture

From your description, the AI proposes the structure, the pages, the copy and starter visuals. Every element is a separate block you can move, resize and rewrite.

  • Tailored to your trade

Depending on what you do, the draft can include an online shop or appointment booking. Keep what serves you and remove the rest in the editor.

  • An AI editor in plain language

Type your request in plain language, such as “make the headline punchier”: the AI editor applies it to your draft, and you keep or undo it in one click. Available depending on your plan.

  • AI translation, French and English

Your site exists in one language. AI translation drafts the other, page by page, with hreflang tags handled for you. You proofread before anything goes live.

  • AI support assistant included

Got a question about hej? The assistant answers from the documentation, at no extra cost. When it can't help, it offers a ticket followed up by a person.

  • A visitor assistant, as an option

An AI assistant can answer your visitors' questions from your site's own content. It's a paid option, separate from hej support, switched on only at your request.

How it works

How it works

From the first description to going live, the whole journey takes a handful of steps: the AI drafts, you review, you correct, you publish.

  1. 1

    Describe your business

Your trade, your services, your customers, the style you like. A few sentences are enough to give the AI something to work with, no technical jargon needed.

  2. 2

    The AI drafts a proposal

Structure, pages, copy, starter visuals and, depending on your trade, a shop or appointment booking. Everything lands in the editor as separate blocks, ready to be reworked.

  3. 3

    You correct, block by block

Drag a block, rewrite the copy in place or, depending on your plan, ask the AI editor for a new wording. Check the result on desktop, tablet and mobile.

  4. 4

    You publish when you approve

Nothing goes online on its own. Publish in one click, add the English or French version if you wish, and keep editing as often as you need.

What building a website with artificial intelligence really means

Building a website with artificial intelligence means letting a language model draft the first version of your site: the page structure, the headlines, the paragraphs, starter visuals and, depending on your trade, an online shop or appointment booking. You describe your business in everyday words, and the AI turns that into a coherent proposal. With hej, the result is not a flat picture or a file you would have to send to a developer, but a set of separate blocks inside the visual editor. Every headline, image and button can be moved, resized and rewritten, exactly as if you had placed it there yourself.

What does the AI actually produce? Take a tradesperson: a home page, a page presenting what they offer and a contact page, each built from separate sections, headlines, paragraphs and buttons. In the editor, you then type your request in plain language, such as “make the headline punchier”: the AI editor, offered depending on your plan, applies the change to your draft, and one click on “Undo” removes it if it does not suit you. That draft stays separate from the live version. Visitors keep seeing the published site while you work; you check the preview on desktop, tablet and mobile, then publish once you are happy with the result.

Now for what the AI does not do. It does not know your real prices, your opening hours or your legal obligations: its copy is a starting point to proofread, not a truth to publish as is. The visitor assistant, which answers questions from your site's own content, is a paid option separate from the included support; you decide whether to switch it on. Social media, the Google Business Profile listing and Google reviews are in preparation, with no date announced. And if a rewording leaves you unsure, human support at hej, in French or English, remains within reach: hej is designed, built and supported in France.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about building a website with AI

01Can I really edit the site the AI generates?

Yes, entirely. Every headline, paragraph, image or button the AI proposes is a separate block in the visual editor. Drag it with your mouse, resize it, rewrite the text in place. It is not a screenshot or a locked template; it is the very same editor you would use for a site built by hand.

02Can the AI publish anything without my approval?

No. The AI drafts a proposal inside the editor, and that is where it stops. Publishing is a click you make yourself, after reviewing. The same goes for the generated site, for the AI editor's rewrites and for the translation, which all stay in draft until you approve them.

03What is the difference between the support assistant and the visitor assistant?

The support assistant answers your questions about hej, drawing on the documentation. It is included at no extra cost and offers a ticket followed up by a person when it cannot answer. It never decides on prices or refunds. The visitor assistant sits on your site and answers your customers from your own content. It is a paid option you switch on if you wish.

04Will the AI get the facts about my business right?

It writes from what you tell it, and nothing else. It does not know your real prices, your opening hours or your story. Treat its copy as a well-structured first draft to proofread and correct before publishing. The more precise your description, the closer the proposal comes to sounding like you.

05Can the AI run my social media or my Google listing?

These modules are in preparation and are not available today. Social media posting, the Google Business Profile listing and Google reviews have no announced date. For now, hej's AI is there to generate your site, edit it in plain language depending on your plan, translate it between French and English, and answer your questions about the platform. We present each new feature once it genuinely works.
